2D Shape Spot Christmas KS1/KS2
How many 2D shapes can you see in this festive image?
A fun and easy starter, extension or consolidation activity for Key Stage 1 (KS1) / Key Stage 2 (KS2) learning their extensive 2D shapes. They can identify circles, ovals rectangles / oblongs / quadrilaterals, squares, triangles, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, and more. Can you find the trapezium? These shapes are shown in the “commonly recognisable” orientation as well as irregular, count the sides to name the shape!
Easy to differentiate, children could use a different colour to circle the different 2D shapes, or count them up as they find them and name them. Encourage the children draw their own festive picture using all the different 2D shapes they have learnt!
This file downloads as an image, so you can insert it into your school’s standard template in a worksheet or add it to an existing worksheet. It can also be printed on its own. Alternatively, children could complete this activity using iPads / tablets and editing it on the screen. A further option is to project it onto the interactive whiteboard / screen, for the children to search for the shapes as a starter activity. They can record their answers in their books, on individual whiteboards or share them out loud, collaboratively as a class.

Christmas Bar Model Number Pairs Worksheets - 2 through to 10
CHRISTMAS EDITION!
Teaching number pairs from 2 through to 10 using bar models - with a fun festive twist! For key stage 1 and early years foundation stage.
Each individual worksheet contains a bar model per number pair. The top bar shows what number is represented by the bar model (the “total” amount), the second bar shows the amount using pictures and the third bar is for the number sentence.
The children must draw the remaining pictures in the second bar to make the total (the “full” bar), they use this to write the number sentence below.
The pictures are simple and recognisable for the children to continue drawing. This includes snowmen, christmas trees, presents, stockings, baubles etc.

Draw the hands on the analogue clock - half past
Read the time in words and draw the minute and hour hands on the clock face! The times are all half past the hour.
This resource includes 2 pages of 6 clocks and times - these can be split into 2 sessions or used in one!
You could also cut up the clocks for the children to select one at a time and stick in their books, making the activity less intimidating than being faced with a whole worksheet.
